Crossridge Church
Statement of Faith
1. God: We affirm God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
2. Jesus Christ: We affirm Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. By the miracle of the virgin birth, Jesus came to earth, lived as a man sinless and became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind by dying on the cross. He demonstrated his power over sin and death by rising again on the 3rd day. He ascended into Heaven and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings.
3. The Holy Spirit: We affirm the Holy Spirit is co-equal to God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Son. Upon believing in Jesus as your savior you are given the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit permanently indwells within the believer. The Holy Spirit gives at least one spiritual gift to every believer for the edification of the church. The Holy Spirit begins the process of sanctification, teaching, assuring, guiding, convicting, and empowering each believer. As believers we desire the fullness of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
4. Man: Man is made in the spiritual image of God. God created man both male and female. Man is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred with disobedience toward God called sin. This separates man from God.
5. Salvation: We affirm Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Man can never make up for his sins by doing good, or self-improving or good works. Only by believing in Jesus Christ can man be redeemed from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one believes in Jesus as their Savior. Because God gives salvation through the person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross our salvation is eternally secure. It is the grace of God and the Father’s keeping power that give the believer security in their salvation.
6. The Bible: We affirm the Bible is God’s word to men. The Bible was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for how we are to live as God’s people. Because it is inspired by God, in its original form its truth is without error.
7. The Church: Is not a physical location or a replacement for Israel but rather a new work. The New Testament Church is composed of a priesthood of believers who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit since the day of Pentecost following Christ's resurrection. We believe that the Church is the spiritual body of Christ, of which He is the Head. We believe that this body expresses itself in local assemblies in which believers are in a relationship with one another. Biblically that relationship is expressed corporately through hearing the Word of God proclaimed, engaging in worship, practicing the two ordinances of believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper, building up each other's faith, holding each other accountable through biblical love and discipline, and engaging in local and world evangelization.
